On the way to Canada!

“Musicians of Tomorrow” (fondly referred to as “mot”) visited Canada in the summer of 2015. The leading trio (Amit Amar – piano, Barak Dan – violin, Erez Fogel – cello) played at a memorial concert for the late Yaela Hertz, Professor  of Music and Concertmaster of the McGill Chamber Orchestra in Montreal. Yaela encountered “mot” when they played in the spring festival in Montreal in 2011. She then devoted 2 consecutive summers coming to Israel and giving month – long master classes to “mot”. She worked personally with the trio traveling to Montreal. After Montreal the trio  also performed in Toronto at the home of Wendy and Elliott Eisen who  opened their hearts (and more) to “mot”.

Master classes in Germany

Bernd-GoetzkeA generous donation was received to fund sending Amit Amar (piano) and Barak Dan (violin) to Summer Master Classes at the Eurofest in Halle, Germany in July 2015. Dr. Anna Rosnovsky accompanied them while they enjoyed 11 days with music students from around the world and instruction from the best in the field. Amit  studied with Bernd Goetzke while Barak learned with Tomasz Tomaszewski, a violinist in the tradition of Yuri Yankelewitz, that which Anna herself has continued from Moscow to Israel.

Finally, a permanent home

A gracious benefactor has purchased a large old 10 room house in Rosh Pina which is to be made available to DSC_2937_smallMusicians of Tomorrow as our permanent residence. This is a large stride forward and will enable us to develop additional musical instrument instruction and enlarge the number of students we teach. The house is in need of extensive renovations so it is difficult to estimate when we shall move. In addition to teaching rooms, the house will have a small concert hall as well as a residential unit for visiting musicians and overnight stays for students when necessary.

Recent gifts

We have received valuable gifts from Italy – a magnificently beautiful doublebass and as if that wasn’t enough, an equally beautiful violin which has been played in the La Scala Hall in Milan. The contrabass is not easily portable so lessons are being given to one of our older students, Erez Fogel at the Mount of Beatitudes by a teacher who comes weekly from Haifa. The violin was presented to Barak Dan in a small but moving ceremony on the occasion of his recent 16th birthday.
